My #Nebulas2023 Schedule

I’m looking forward to going back to the SFWA Nebula Conference this year–the first time they’ve happened in person since 2019–and I love that most sessions will be streamed live and archived online! Here’s my panel schedule for next weekend:

WRITING SCRIPTED SCI-FI/FANTASY PODCASTS
May 13, 2023 – 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm (Pacific timezone)
Want to know how authors are writing podcast audio dramas and finding their audience? Join writers who have broken in to this space to discuss storytelling, casting, recording, and more!
Panelists: Curtis Chen, Madeleine Holly-Rosing, Darius Jones, Brian Nelson
🌌
TRAUMA AND TIME TRAVEL
May 13, 2023 – 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm (Pacific timezone)
In an era of mass shootings, violence by law enforcement, rising rates of suicide among young people, and other crises, issues of trauma and PTSD loom large. Time travel, a mainstay of speculative fiction for more than a century, can offer insight into and reflection on key aspects of trauma, such as bodily dissociation and perseverative memory. Members of the SFWA community discuss the roles sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and related genres play in conversations about trauma and PTSD.
Panelists: Joshua Bellin, Curtis Chen, Katrina Archer, R.S.A. Garcia, Samantha Mills
🌌
WELCOME TO THE WRITERS’ ROOM
May 14, 2023 – 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm (Pacific timezone)
Come meet our panel of experts who explore the collaborative environment of the TV writers’ room, what it’s like to write for TV, and other considerations when writing for the screen.
Panelists: Curtis Chen, Sam Christopher, Charlie Jane Anders, Terri Hughes Burton, Marc Zicree
🌌

It appears that I will also be co-hosting the Alternate Universe acceptance speeches, alongside the incomparable Lindsay Ellis, immediately following the awards ceremony on Sunday night. Many of this year’s finalists are joining us virtually!

And whatever time we have left in the ballroom after that will be devoted to karaoke.

Honestly, I’m just hoping to spend most of next weekend barconning (outdoors, please and thank you) with lots of cool folks that I haven’t been able to see in person for the last few years. If you’re unable to join us in Anaheim, I hope to see you online at some point!
