My OryCon 45 Schedule

It’s the end of OryCon as we know it and I feel fine! Here’s what I’ll be up to at the DoubleTree Hotel Portland this weekend:

FRIDAY

Pros and Cons of Climate Change
9pm – Wiedler
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(If you’re just looking to barcon, Friday night is when you’ll find me.)

SATURDAY

Kaffeeklatsch
11am – Gather Side Room, Table 2
Come have one on one time with Curtis C. Chen. Kaffeeklatsches are held in the back room of Gathering, and we do ask that if possible you support the venue by ordering a beverage. Due to the limited space we ask that you sign up at the Info Booth!

Signing
3pm – Halsey, Table 1
Since this is the final Orycon, I will lift my prohibition on signing body parts for this hour only. 😉

Reading
5pm – Idaho
(NB: half hour session)

SUNDAY

Constructing Alien Languages
10am – Lincoln
Does your story require an alien/extraterrestrial language, in a non-trivial way? This panel will introduce you to construction methods used by experienced language creators and/or linguists, along with a brief discussion of what makes a language non-human.

How to Recognize a Scam
11am – Roosevelt
Scammers. They infest the Internet nowadays. Phishing emails, catfishers on dating sites, fake profiles trying to friend us on social media, and so on. We will discuss how to identify the more common scams and how to avoid them.

The Influence of Multimedia on Literary Works
1pm – Lincoln
A wide-ranging discussion about how various media ventures cross over to impact new and existing writings, be it comics, online content, TV, or film.

Navigating Your Writing Career
2pm – Washington
A panel of writers discuss the nuances of a writing career–alternative ways to use your skills, and the ups and downs of publishing. The tips and tricks you need to know what a writer’s career really looks like.

Last but not least, on Sunday afternoon I’ll be heading over to Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing for their “Sci Fi Authorfest” signing event, from 4:00pm-5:30pm:
