This has nothing to do with anything except the fact that I’m a ridiculous Star Trek nerd, but I continue to be super excited about having this insanely detailed replica of the original USS Enterprise in my office!
It’s been over a year of waiting since I pre-ordered it, and then several weeks of back-and-forth with customer service getting a replacement for a defective part, but now it’s all put together and fully functional and… if you’d told me, as a child, that I would grow up to be an award-nominated science fiction author with the frickin’ Enterprise in my house, well, I probably would have also asked about robots and been sorely disappointed. But here we are, in the future, and it’s pretty great.
Did I mention the insane details? As you can see in the short video above, it lights up with screen-accurate blinkies and rotating warp nacelles, but there’s even more:

The leading edge of the saucer section has wear and tear marks! You can see into the bridge (which also lights up) through the Cage-style transparent dome!

Who knew that the front part of this neck section was BLUE?!

And it comes with three shuttlecraft, also to 1/350 scale, that can fit inside the shuttlebay (the door is removable, and the interior also lights up)!
