In many ways, I&#8217;m <i>always<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfwa.org\/members\/shawl\/other\/\">writing the other<\/a>, because I rarely draw upon my own life experiences for my fiction&#8211;like Laura Anne Gilman, I believe that <a href=\"http:\/\/authors.simonandschuster.com\/Laura-Anne-Gilman\/1487653\">&#8220;Write what you know&#8221; means learn more, not write less.<\/a>  I <i>want<\/i> to use my imagination.  I don&#8217;t just want to be a reporter (though those skills are very useful, craft-wise); I want to <b>create.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/snout.org\/HotSheet\/CKL.jpg\" alt=\"CKL\" title=\"CKL\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been downloading TED talks in iTunes, since they make for good, quick, off-line viewing, and are generally entertaining and\/or educational.
