{"id":361,"date":"2012-09-18T14:33:00","date_gmt":"2012-09-18T21:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtiscchen.com\/journal\/2012\/09\/18\/food-robot-redux\/"},"modified":"2012-09-18T14:33:00","modified_gmt":"2012-09-18T21:33:00","slug":"food-robot-redux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtiscchen.com\/journal\/2012\/09\/18\/food-robot-redux\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Robot Redux"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is <a href=\"http:\/\/igniteportland.org\/2012\/09\/16\/how-to-enjoy-ignite-portland-11\/\">Ignite Portland 11 Eve<\/a>, and I just realized that I never followed up my <a href=\"http:\/\/hotsheet.snout.org\/search\/label\/foodrobot\">IP10 blog posts<\/a> with the promised video of <a href=\"http:\/\/proposals.igniteportland.com\/proposals\/584\">my &#8220;Cat Feeding Robot&#8221; talk<\/a>.  Oops!  To rectify that, below are not one, but <i>two<\/i> recordings of that presentation.<\/p>\n<p>The first video is from <a href=\"http:\/\/igniteportland.org\/tag\/ip10\/\">Ignite Portland 10<\/a>, during which I managed to mispronounce the word &#8220;cruise.&#8221;  Fortunately, that didn&#8217;t seem to damage the audience&#8217;s comprehension or enjoyment:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XZ8Ue3vAYMA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/><small><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/XZ8Ue3vAYMA\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/XZ8Ue3vAYMA<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n<p>The second video is from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techoregon.org\/events\/event_details.asp?id=181887\">Ignite SAO v2<\/a>, whose organizers generously invited me to present at their event a month after IP10 (I took the opportunity to amend the talk and remove the Cylon joke, which had bombed previously*):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rau937D56rY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/><small><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/rau937D56rY\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/rau937D56rY<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve archived links to both of these videos, the slides themselves, and MOAR at <a href=\"http:\/\/snout.org\/foodrobot\"><b>www.snout.org\/foodrobot<\/b><\/a>&nbsp;.  I&#8217;m sure the current page does not fulfill everyone&#8217;s cat-feeding-robot needs, so please, send me your suggestions for improvement!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, if you live in or near Portland, Oregon, you should come see <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/i\/#!\/search\/?q=%23ip11&amp;src=hash\">IP11<\/a> tomorrow night.  (And anyone on the Internet can watch the livestream; check <a href=\"http:\/\/igniteportland.org\/\">igniteportland.org<\/a> tomorrow afternoon for details.)  As usual, there&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/igniteportland.org\/2012\/08\/22\/announcing-ignite-portland-11-talks\/\">a terrific variety of talks<\/a>, this time including two different talks about gaming and two other talks about doing cool stuff without dying.  What&#8217;s not to like?<\/p>\n<p>* <small>I actually gave this talk a third time, <i>in between<\/i> the two instances shown above, at the open-mic night on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jonathancoulton.com\/wiki\/JoCo_Cruise_Crazy\/JoCo_Cruise_Crazy_2\">JoCo Cruise Crazy II<\/a>.  I don&#8217;t think anyone recorded video of that, but you can see <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheet\/ccc?key=0Ak3XocugEPbIdEoxTlJDeXd0aVE5UEc3Y252eUlTY3c#gid=1\">plenty of other videos from the cruise<\/a> (and you should definitely <a href=\"http:\/\/jococruisecrazy.com\/\">join us on JCCC3<\/a> if you can!).  The funny story there is that our hosts were not able to pull video from my computer to the big screens in the lounge, so I presented from my laptop (thankfully, one with a 17&#8243; display) to an audience sitting on the dance floor.
