Did they really need two hours to tell this shell of a story, with clunky exposition and obvious plot twists? And is anyone else annoyed that this lobotomized mishmash of <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">2001: A Space Odyssey<\/span> and <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Darwin&#8217;s Radio<\/span> got a green light, while the far more interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/kfmonkey.blogspot.com\/2005\/06\/its-global-frequency-now.html\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Global Frequency<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\">*<\/span> didn&#8217;t even sell the pilot?  There ain&#8217;t no justice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/09\/20\/arts\/television\/20stan.html\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">My Name Is Earl<\/span><\/a>: <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">better<\/span>. Jason Lee is perfect for the title role, and there&#8217;s plenty of room for the character to grow. But I can also see the series degenerating into farce, as <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Malcolm in the Middle<\/span> (and, to some extent, <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Quantum Leap<\/span>) did, by allowing the ongoing conflicts (annoying ex-wife, idiot brother, money troubles) and their attendant, more pedestrian antagonisms to overshadow the &#8220;A&#8221; plots.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\">*<\/span><span style=\"font-size:85%;\"> also about a group of experts assembled from various disciplines to solve world-threatening crises<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just watched two time-shifted pilots tonight, and here&#8217;s what I think.
