In addition to getting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncsfmr.com\/\">a little South for our mouth<\/a>s, D and I also puttered around downtown Raleigh today, checking out the capitol building and then ducking inside the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturalsciences.org\/\">Museum of Natural Sciences<\/a> to escape the heat, where we saw our first-ever <a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/sparckl\/NorthCarolinaTrip\/photo#5084588081643794722\">live sloth<\/a>, up close and personal.<\/p>\n<p>Later, we drove out to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joellane.org\/\">Joel Lane House<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/mordecai\">Mordecai Park<\/a> to get our history on.  It was a little odd to hear our tour guides talk so matter-of-factly about how many slaves the colonial homesteaders owned, but considering all the memorials dedicated to Confederate dead <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">at the state capitol<\/span>, I guess people around here just learn to live with it.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow:  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncartmuseum.org\/templesandtombs\/\">Temples, Tombs<\/a>, and maybe some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chathamhillwine.com\/ourwines.html#Semi-Sweet\">pomegranate wine<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re just here for the food.
