(I didn&#8217;t want to do it last fall because of the writers strike.  I won&#8217;t cross a picket line.)<\/p>\n<p>The tour was a full five hours on the WB lot, including lunch at the commissary and walk-throughs of actual production areas (standing sets for &#8220;ER&#8221; and &#8220;Chuck,&#8221; exteriors used in &#8220;Gilmore Girls&#8221; and <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Ocean&#8217;s Thirteen<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">etc.<\/span>).  Lots of fun! But my favorite exhibit was on the ground floor, of several memos from an executive first greenlighting the production of <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Bonnie and Clyde<\/span>, then later writing a follow-up note saying he really should have read the script before agreeing to spend a whopping $1.6 million on something that had &#8220;no redeeming social value&#8221; (read: <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">pr0n<\/span>) and he was concerned about the commercial and critical prospects for the picture and could they maybe at least get some actual <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">stars<\/span> in the cast?<\/p>\n<p>Some things never change.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ISBN=0967606152\/curtiscchensfree\">A Martian wouldn&#8217;t say that!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>~CKL<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Wednesday, for my belated birthday present, D took me on the &#8220;Deluxe VIP&#8221; Warner Brothers studio tour.
