{"id":1111,"date":"2008-11-16T22:48:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-17T06:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtiscchen.com\/journal\/2008\/11\/16\/why-i-wasnt-writing-this-weekend\/"},"modified":"2008-11-16T22:48:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-17T06:48:00","slug":"why-i-wasnt-writing-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtiscchen.com\/journal\/2008\/11\/16\/why-i-wasnt-writing-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I wasn&#8217;t writing this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actually, I <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">was<\/span> writing; it just wasn&#8217;t <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/136227\/2008\/10\/nanowrimo_howto.html\">noveling<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I just finished two days in <a href=\"http:\/\/kenlevine.blogspot.com\/\">Ken Levine<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sitcomroom.com\/\">Sitcom Room<\/a>, which he gleefully and accurately describes on his blog as &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">hell<\/span>-arity!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My excellent writing team consisted of this motley crew:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Gary<\/span>, a college teacher who travels the world to go surfing;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Erica<\/span>, an art educator who once worked at the Getty Museum;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">James<\/span>, a Londoner who understands the fine distinction between &#8220;stupid&#8221; and &#8220;ignorant;&#8221; and<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Jeff<\/span>, who &#8220;looks like a fat George Clooney&#8221; (his own words, I swear).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ll post more details later, including a few photos and comparisons between this and my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sff.net\/Paradise\/\">Viable Paradise<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.snout.org\/game\/\">Game Control<\/a> experiences.<\/p>\n<p>For now, let me just say that I did not expect rewriting ten pages of comedy to be this exhausting.
